About

A lively and colorful entry to San Diego’s Old Town community, the Bazaar del Mundo has been one of San Diego’s favorite destinations for food, folklore and fun for more than 40 years – inspired by owner and operator Diane Power’s passion for Latin American culture.

Originally located in the Old Town Historic State Park, the Bazaar del Mundo Shops relocated in 2005, and now feature a labyrinth of specialty, Mexican-spirited boutiques overflowing with treasures and fashions from around the globe.

Powers’ Bazaar del Mundo family of award-winning Mexican restaurants – Casa Guadalajara, Casa de Pico, Casa de Bandini and Casa Sol y Mar – also incorporate her love of Mexican folk art, crafts and design with an inspired use of color and authentic décor. Much of the artists’ work that adorn these restaurants can be found for purchase at the Bazaar del Mundo Shops.

Bazaar del Mundo also hosts yearly events such the Latin American Festival, which brings dozens of renowned artists from throughout Mexico and Latin America to San Diego each year, and the Santa Fe Marketplace, which embraces traditions from as far as the Orient and as close to home as the American Southwest.

Both Powers and her Bazaar del Mundo have been recognized by the California Department of Tourism, the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, the San Diego Restaurant Association, the American Institute of Architects and numerous others for outstanding contributions to culture and tourism.
